Thank You letter to Pak'nSave

Dear Pak n Save

Thank you so much for supporting the yummy stickers promotion. My school, Panmure Bridge School, earned $100 worth of tennis balls. This will really help some people at our school, so that if anyone wants to become a famous tennis player when they grow up they can, and it is all thanks to you.

We are a school that loves to get outside. We are a happy and energetic school. So thank you so much for your support we really appreciate it.

We love the fact that we have new sports equipment, because our sports shed is full of all kinds of equipment. So again thank you so much, we will use the tennis balls for a lot of games.

Yours sincerely,
Isabella Namoa

  • On November 23, over 1000 people turned up at Auckland’s famous west beaches. They turned up to stop Deep Sea Oil drilling in New Zealand's waters

  • Some of the people came to the beach with their homemade signs and banners. Some of them were saying ‘Stop Deep Sea Oil Drilling’ another said ‘Anadarko go home.’

  • At the beach in Piha some of them performed a haka and they joined hands to create a human chain from the land to the sea.

  • There were about 400 people who went to Muriwai and protested, there were 500 who turned up at Bethells Beach, also there were 750 that were at Raglan.

  • Also some people were saying “If John Key can’t see that were trying to stop this from happening then he’s just got his head stuck in the sand.” Also NZ women's surfing champion Micha Davis and Labour MP Phil Twyford spoke at Piha.

We may here observe that the piles which are driven into the ground with remarkable accuracy as to straightness, are well sheathed, from the bed of the river to the high water mark, with metal, securely fastened, so as to guard the bottom portions of the piles from the ravages of the worm.

On a fine day on 7 February 1863 the HMS Orpheus – carrying naval stores – approached Manukau Harbour. Seeing it was off course to cross the bar, the onshore signalman motioned to change direction. But the warning was too late, and the ship ran aground. As the sea got heavier, it began to break up. Lifeboats were swamped. With the crew clinging helplessly to the rigging, the ship’s masts fell one by one into the sea. Of the 259 people on board, 189 drowned. It remains New Zealand’s worst maritime disaster.

The 3rd floor bedroom by Isabella

The 3rd Floor Bedroom
It all began when someone left the window open

“Hey! Who left the Window open?” There once lived a girl named Emily, she lived in an apartment. She was on the 3rd floor, there were 20 floors.

One hot day Emily wanted to go to the beach with her friends but her parents said “No, Emily you can’t go with your friends”. Emily was so angry, she said to her parents “You’re the worst parents ever” It was time for breakfast, when Emily went to the kitchen her sister didn’t know what was happening so she opened her window.

When Emily went into her room she saw that someone had opened her window and there was a bird camouflaged to look like her wallpaper. Emily thought that since her parents wouldn’t let her out then she would sneak out. What Emily didn’t think of was that she was on the third floor. Emily saw the ladder below her outside, but the ladder was too short so if she got to the bottom she would still have to jump.

Emily packed her stuff for the beach and before she left she locked her door so her parents couldn’t come in. Emily packed her bag and she threw it out the window but luckily it was just her bag and she was lucky that her expensive perfume didn’t break. When Emily climbed down the ladder, she got to the bottom of the ladder, she saw that it was a long way to jump, so she climbed the tree that was next to the ladder.

Emily finally got to the beach. She saw her friends there, they were all    together playing touch. Emily had a fun time at the beach but she knew that sneaking out wasn’t the right thing to do. So she asked her friends to drop her off at her house. When she got to her house she went up the tree then up the ladder and when she got inside she saw her parents inside her room looking worried.

When Emily confessed about everything she told them that it all happened when someone left her window open. Her parents forgave her but she was still grounded. Emily had a fun time at the beach. She was still happy to see her family even though she was grounded. Emily had an interesting day but it ended up with a happy ending.

Tick Tock

Tick Tock the clock was moving,
like your heart beating,

The little hand so small it was the size of a baby’s pinky,
The big hand so huge like the sky tower,
The second hand moving so fast you couldn’t keep up,

I could hear time passing by,
Tick tock tick tock.
