By Isabella
Setting
Characters
Themes & style
The story is set in
Germany -
(Berlin)
Poland -
(Auschwitz)

The main characters are Bruno and Shmuel.
Bruno’s friend that he meets in the story is Shmuel.
Bruno’s sister is Gretel, also in the story there is the mother, the father, the grandfather and the grandmother.
The author gives us clues to tell us what is going to happen. He also lets us figure out what is going to happen next. The
ending of the story is supposed to shock us because the main character dies and the author is setting up the character of the father.

Events
The first thing that happened was that Bruno didn't like his new house. Bruno’s father had some guests coming over and one of them was called the fury. Bruno didn't like the fury because he was a slob and he would get smart. Then Bruno met Shmuel from across the fence and he became his best friend but he told his sister that he made a new friend but his sister didn't believe him and she thought that he had an imaginary friend.
Bruno found out that his family has to go back to Berlin and Bruno thought that if he moves back that none of his friends would remember him. So Bruno and Shmuel went looking for his dad but what they didn't know was that Bruno’s father was killing people over there who weren't Germans. Bruno and Shmuel were on the other side of the fence.
Then Bruno and Shmuel were playing around in the gas chamber and they didn't know that his father was killing people by putting them in the gas chamber. So that’s how Bruno died. Also Bruno’s father died from getting shot because he just realized that he had killed his own son.

Moral
The author is trying to tell us a warning that this should never happen again even though it has happen a lot in WW2. In South Africa people are still killing each other.  Also it is suppose to horrify us about the fate of Jews during WW2.
