Food Glorious Food

Food is often mentioned in stories, or you might like to read a recipe book.  Find something that you could cook for your family and make it.  Take a photo or write out the recipe and post it onto your blog with a comment that tells you:
- Title - Making Whoopies
- Author - Nancy Griffin
- Type of Book - Cook Book
- Recipe - Chocolate Whoopies

Ingredients - Cakes

1/2 cups of butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3/4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1/2 cup cocoa
2 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 cup milk

Filling
1 cup of vegetable shortening
1 cup sugar
1 1/3 cups marshmallow fluff/creme
1/4 teaspoon salt dissolved in 1 tablespoon water
1 1/2 vanilla extract

Method

Preheat the oven to 180 fan forced. Lightly grease two baking sheets.

1. In a large bowl mix together the butter, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and vanilla until smooth. Add the egg, again mix until smooth. Add the cocoa, stir to combine.

2. Add the flour to the batter alternately with the milk, mix until smooth. Scrape down the sides and the bottom of the bowl, and mix again briefly to soften.

3. Drop the batter by the quarter-cupfuls onto the baking sheets, leaving plenty of room between the cakes, they will spread in the oven.

4. Bake the cakes for 15 - 16 minutes, until they're set and firm to the touch. Remove them from the oven, and cool on the sheets while still lukewarm, use a spatula to separate them from the pan, this will allow it to cool completely.

5. Make the filling by beating together the shortening, sugar, and marshmallow until well combine. Dissolve the salt in the water and add to the marshmallow mixture. Add the vanilla and beat until smooth.

6. Spread the filling on the flat side of the half of the cooled cakes. Top with the remaining cakes, flat side toward the filling.
